Humbly Hemp's Favorite L.A. Workouts

If you are into taking care of yourself- mind, body and spirit, there is just no place like Los Angeles. Between the myriad of fitness studios, healthy cafés, meditation spaces, and outdoor sanctuaries, the City of Angels truly has something for everyone. Fitness trends may come and go, but our philosophy is if it makes you happy and it makes you sweat, then you are on the right track! As summer comes to an end and you are looking to settle back into a great fitness routine, here is a little inspiration from a few of our favorite L.A workouts!

Rise Nation

One of Hollywood's hottest studios right now, Rise Nation is one of the only studios dedicated to the VersaClimber, a climbing machine that enables you to work both your upper and lower body and burn as much as 22.3 calories per minute! (That is more than spinning alone). Both low impact and short (Classes are only 30 minutes) the workout is hard, but it is over before you know it. The instructors are lovely and motivating. Our fave? A young lade named Katie Keefe. She is super fun and sweet, but make no mistake- she will kick you butt!

GOAT YOGA

Yes, you heard us right. Goat Yoga is now a thing. And it is exactly what it sounds like. You participate in a Yoga class with all the downward dogs and child poses your little heart desires, while baby goats roam around the studio and nestle up to you (even clim on you) while you try to stay focused on the task at hand. Is it a distraction? Absolutely. But by all accounts, it is a welcomed one. Known for their absolute cuddliness and therapeutic nature, goats are said to heal anxiety, depression and even aid people recovering from more serious illnesses. So while this may not be the sweatiest workouts of your life, it is a beautiful way to simultaneously connect to your breath and connect to nature in a super fun atmosphere.

Pilates

Pilates is nothing new- in fact, Joseph Pilates opened his first studio in the 1920's. But over the last decade or so, this sophisticated workout has garnered quite the reputation. Professional athletes use it for training, celebrities attribute their toned bodies to it, dancers practice it on the regular, and doctors and physical therapists even recommend it. Not only does it develop a strong core and a strong back, but it also creates long lean muscles, flexibility, and focuses on breath and body awareness. And if you think Pilates sounds like a walk in the park? Then you've got another thing coming! Pilates is a fantastic workout, and it is not going anywhere. The only problem is choosing between the sea of awesome Pilates Studios throughout Los Angeles. Here are just a few that we love.

Runyon Canyon

Let's face it, the fitness studio life is not for everyone. Many prefer to get fresh air while they exercise, and who can blame them? Not us! With the Los Angeles weather as gorgeous as it is year-round, it makes sense to work-out in nature. And what better place to go than Runyon Canyon? Located on the eastern side of the Santa Monica Mountains, the fave L.A hiking spot is a 160-acre park that offers three different trails. The best part? The amazing quintessential views of Hollywood, and the very common celebrity sighting- if you are in to that sort of thing.

INTERVAL TRAINING

They say variety is the spice of life, and nothing could be truer than when it comes to a workout. Interval training has long been considered a game changer and praised for transforming how you look and feel. With a focus on fat and calorie burning, there is an endless array of workout that will never bore you. Think TRX cables, kettle bells, weight machines, resistance bands, free weights, and plyometrics. This dynamic 60-minute workout is sure to get your heart pounding, your stamina growing, and your muscle tone on point! There are several places in Los Angeles you can take interval training, but this one in particular, we love.
